The West Virginia Municipal Human Resources Association (WVMHRA) has been established with the following purposes:
  • To create a working relationship among the personnel of municipalities throughout the State of West Virginia, who share common problems;
  • To provide an atmosphere conducive to general discussion, rendering of opinions, and exchanging of information regarding problems, work practices, etc.
  • All information of a confidential nature that is shared by the membership shall not be carried outside the Association;
  • To promote cooperation between human resources professionals by the interchange of experiences and methods of conducting their business, to the end that each may profit from the knowledge and experiences of others;
  • To promote periodic conferences or meetings of the Association for discussion of municipal problems, and by researching to find feasible solutions;
  • To maintain the highest ethical standards of the Human Resources profession.

WVMHRA Awards Scholarship

Marissa MusgraveThe West Virginia Municipal Human Resources Association presented their 2008-2009 annual scholarship to Marissa Musgrave. Miss Musgrave is the daughter of Monica Musgrave, the Assistant Finance Director of the City of Bridgeport, WV. Marissa was awarded a five-hundred dollar scholarship to assist her with her college education.

Miss Musgrave graduated from Bridgeport High School where she concentrated her studies in the science field. Marissa has been and continues to be very active in her church. She was also a junior varsity cheerleader during her sophomore year and a member of the Key Club at Bridgeport High School. She received her academic letter for a 4.0 grade point average her senior year. She has been an active member of the Bridgeport United Methodist Church her entire life. She was a member of the Cherub, Jubilate and Seraphim vocal choirs, the Alpha Omega handbell choir; a youth helper for bible school and nurseries; and a member of the United Methodist Youth Fellowship. Marissa aided in the preparation of meals at the Clarksburg Mission and purchased and wrapped Christmas gifts for the children at Scots Run Settlement House in Morgantown. Marissa is also employed at a Page at the Bridgeport Municipal Library. She completed her freshman year at Fairmont State University and has been accepted into the UHC School of Radiologic Technology. Only 15 students are selected for the program annually. As a result of completing 36 hours of required courses at FSU, Marissa will receive an Associate of Applied Science Degree and her radiology certification at the completion of the program.

Each year, the WVMHRA takes applications for children or stepchildren of municipal employees under the age of 26 which are employed by municipalities that are members of the WVMHRA. One scholarship is awarded each year based on the culmination of community and school activities, awards, honors, academic record, career goals, and financial need.
